Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest”
Matthew 11:28 NRSV

They were farmers and workers who wanted to be faithful to God and make a better life for their children. They did the best they could, juggling work, family, and worship. The religious leaders, however, made their lives difficult. They wanted people to follow hundreds of rules. But trying to work and follow these rules wore them out. Jesus knew this. He wanted to give them an easier way to live and give them rest.

Two main reasons to worship God are to find rest and restoration. Our lives today make us weary, and many feel there is no extra time. If we feel that time for God is burdensome, we won’t make time for God. We’re prevented from the finding the rest we desperately need.
